1 Now wee beseech you, brethren, by the comming of our Lord Iesus Christ, and by our gathering together vnto him, (KJV-1611)
Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to Him, we ask you, brothers, (BSB)
Ἐρωτῶμεν δὲ ὑμᾶς, ἀδελφοί, ὑπὲρ τῆς παρουσίας τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, καὶ ἡμῶν ἐπισυναγωγῆς ἐπ᾽ αὐτόν, (BEZ)
2 That yee bee not soone shaken in minde, or bee troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter, as from vs, as that the day of Christ is at hand, (KJV-1611)
not to be easily disconcerted or alarmed by any spirit or message or letter seeming to be from us, alleging that the Day of the Lord has already come. (BSB)
Εἰς τὸ μὴ ταχέως σαλευθῆναι ὑμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ νοὸς, μήτε θροεῖσθαι, μήτε διὰ πνεύματος, μήτε διὰ λόγου, μήτε δι᾽ ἐπιστολῆς, ὡς δι᾽ ἡμῶν, ὡς ὅτι ἐνέστηκεν ἡ ἡμέρα τοῦ Χριστοῦ. (BEZ)
3 Let no man deceiue you by any meanes, for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sinne bee reuealed, the sonne of perdition, (KJV-1611)
Let no one deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness—the son of destruction—is revealed. (BSB)
Μή τις ὑμᾶς ἐξαπατήσῃ κατὰ μηδένα τρόπον· ὅτι ἐὰν μὴ ἔλθῃ ἡ ἀποστασία πρῶτον, καὶ ἀποκαλυφθῇ ὁ ἄνθρωπος τῆς ἁμαρτίας, ὁ υἱὸς τῆς ἀπωλείας, (BEZ)
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himselfe aboue all that is called God, or that is worshipped: so that he as God, sitteth in the Temple of God, shewing himselfe that he is God. (KJV-1611)
He will oppose and exalt himself above every so-called god or object of worship. So he will seat himself in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. (BSB)
Ὁ ἀντικείμενος καὶ ὑπεραιρόμενος ἐπὶ πᾶν τὸ λεγόμενον Θεὸν ἢ σέβασμα, ὥστε αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν ναὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ ὡς Θεὸν καθίσαι, ἀποδεικνύντα ἑαυτὸν ὅτι ἐστὶ Θεός. (BEZ)
5 Remember yee not, that when I was yet with you, I tolde you these things? (KJV-1611)
Do you not remember that I told you these things while I was still with you? (BSB)
Οὐ μνημονεύετε ὅτι ἔτι ὢν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ταῦτα ἔλεγον ὑμῖν; (BEZ)
6 And now yee know what withholdeth, that hee might bee reuealed in his time. (KJV-1611)
And you know what is now restraining him, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. (BSB)
Καὶ νῦν τὸ κατέχον οἴδατε, εἰς τὸ ἀποκαλυφθῆναι αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἑαυτοῦ καιρῷ. (BEZ)
7 For the mysterie of iniquitie doth alreadie worke: onely he who now letteth, will let, vntill he be taken out of the way. (KJV-1611)
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way. (BSB)
Τὸ γὰρ μυστήριον ἤδη ἐνεργεῖται τῆς ἀνομίας· μόνον ὁ κατέχων ἄρτι, ἕως ἐκ μέσου γένηται· (BEZ)
8 And then shall that wicked bee reuealed, whome the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightnesse of his comming: (KJV-1611)
And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of His mouth and annihilate by the majesty of His arrival. (BSB)
Καὶ τότε ἀποκαλυφθήσεται ὁ ἄνομος, ὃν ὁ Κύριος ἀναλώσει τῷ πνεύματι τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ, καὶ καταργήσει τῇ ἐπιφανείᾳ τῆς παρουσίας αὐτοῦ· (BEZ)
9 Euen him whose comming is after the working of Satan, with all power and signes, and lying wonders, (KJV-1611)
The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, (BSB)
Οὗ ἐστιν ἡ παρουσίᾳ κατ᾽ ἐνέργειαν τοῦ σατανᾶ ἐν πάσῃ δυνάμει, καὶ σημείοις, καὶ τέρασι ψεύδους· (BEZ)
10 And with all deceiueablenesse of vnrighteousnesse, in them that perish: because they receiued not the loue of the trueth, that they might be saued. (KJV-1611)
and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. (BSB)
καὶ ἐν πάσῃ ἀπάτῃ τῆς ἀδικίας ἐν τοῖς ἀπολλυμένοις· ἀνθ᾽ ὧν τὴν ἀγάπην τῆς ἀληθείας οὐκ ἐδέξαντο εἰς τὸ σωθῆναι αὐτούς. (BEZ)
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should beleeue a lye: (KJV-1611)
For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, (BSB)
Καὶ διὰ τοῦτο πέμψει αὐτοῖς ὁ Θεὸς ἐνέργειαν πλάνης, εἰς τὸ πιστεῦσαι αὐτοὺς τῷ ψεύδει· (BEZ)
12 That they all might bee damned who beleeued not the trueth, but had pleasure in vnrighteousnes. (KJV-1611)
in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness. (BSB)
Ἵνα κριθῶσι πάντες οἱ μὴ πιστεύσαντες τῇ ἀληθείᾳ, ἀλλ᾽ εὐδοκήσαντες ἐν τῇ ἀδικίᾳ. (BEZ)
13 But we are bound to giue thanks alway to God for you, brethren, beloued of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to saluation, through sanctification of the spirit, and beleefe of the trueth, (KJV-1611)
But we should always thank God for you, brothers who are loved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning to be saved by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth. (BSB)
Ἡμεῖς δὲ ὀφείλομεν εὐχαριστεῖν τῷ Θεῷ πάντοτε περὶ ὑμῶν, ἀδελφοὶ ἠγαπημένοι ὑπὸ Κυρίου, ὅτι εἵλατο ὑμᾶς ὁ Θεὸς ἀπ᾽ ἀρχῆς εἰς σωτηρίαν ἐν ἁγιασμῷ Πνεύματος, καὶ πίστει ἀληθείας· (BEZ)
14 Whereunto he called you by our Gospel, to the obteining of the glorie of the Lord Iesus Christ. (KJV-1611)
To this He called you through our gospel, so that you may share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. (BSB)
Εἰς ὃ ἐκάλεσεν ὑμᾶς διὰ τοῦ εὐαγγελίου ἡμῶν, εἰς περιποίησιν δόξης τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ. (BEZ)
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which yee haue beene taught, whether by word or our Epistle. (KJV-1611)
Therefore, brothers, stand firm and cling to the traditions we taught you, whether by speech or by letter. (BSB)
Ἄρα οὖν, ἀδελφοί, στήκετε, καὶ κρατεῖτε τὰς παραδόσεις, ἃς ἐδιδάχθητε εἴτε διὰ λόγου, εἴτε δι᾽ ἐπιστολῆς ἡμῶν. (BEZ)
16 Now our Lorde Iesus Christ himselfe, and God euen our Father, which hath loued vs, and hath giuen vs euerlasting consolation, and good hope through grace, (KJV-1611)
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who by grace has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope, (BSB)

17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in euery good word and worke. (KJV-1611)
